Zelda Symphony of the Goddesses – Review

By Carlin Nguyen on June 15th, 2015 | Culture

A soldout show at the Walt Disney Concert Hall on Sunday night as Zelda Symphony of the Goddesses was in town.  A four-piece movement symphony that focuses on the worthy of the Hero of Hyrule himself, Link.

The program is laid out in two acts.  In Act I, the overture begins followed by interludes featuring Gerudo Valley, Boss Battle Medley, Suite from Majora’s Mask, and A Link Between Worlds.  The sympyhony portion of the Act just remains which features the prelude and the first two movements.  And in Act II, the intermezzo featuring the Great Fairy’s Fountain followed by movements three & four and the finale.

One of these live shows are best recommended for fans who know everything about Zelda – characters, and close to 30 years of story plots.  Also, don’t forget – franchise producer Eiji Aonuma as well sound director Koji Kondo are a part of the show too.  Nevertheless, the live show is nothing compared to anyone who’s seen other live shows including Video Games Live during the mid 2000s or Symphonic Fantasies between 2009 and 2012.  On Sunday night, you get the full four-course meal: introduction, beginning, body, and conclusion.  It makes some want to play the Zelda games once more.

In its third year of this live production, this current tour will go through select US cities including Chicago, Houston, and San Francisco.  In total, the ’15 tour will evolve at a total of 60 shows globally with countries of Spain, Italy, and Ireland.
