The Spanish group, coming out of Madrid, made famous with songs including – “Devuelveme a mi chica” [meaning – Return back my girl], was widely known in the world, first as 80’s pop/rock music genre. Similar to the likes of Soda Stereo (Argentina), Los Enanitos Verdes (Argentina), Duran Duran (England), Depeche Mode (England) – the general premise of this generational music was still a constant flow of emergence of dance and new wave music. The emergence of live musical performances, along with MTV (as an example), brought new waves of bringing the music live on TV. The meaning and emotions of the voices, along with the creativity and visuals, defined the foundation of pop music of today’s
modern music scene.

What started in 1982, as the band, under a different name, Los Bonitos Redford, held their first concert at a famous Madrid bar called, “Rockola.” A year later, to having their current band name and being signed to the independent label, Twins, they made their debut album, to which their featured single, “Devuelveme a mi chica,” gained wide popularity and notoriaty overnight.

After seven studio albums, the group took a break from each other. As the lead drummer took a break entirely from the industry, the other three members were still highly involved in their own music paths. And in 2002 – the group reconvened and released – Peligrosomente Juntos, their eighth album release.

The band was formed by singer/bassist David Summers, guitarist Rafael Gutierrez, guitarist Daniel Mezquita, and drummer Javier Molina. And since their inception in 1983, they’ve compiled more than 15 albums up to now. Their latest album, La Esquina de Rowland, was majorly influenced by the pandemic of 2020. And the amount of time away from the stage brought mixed emotions to each of the members. The album title is a reference to a name of a bar that started the musical dreams of the entire group.

The group’s name was based from an American movie called, G-Men. The band followed the rave of 80’s new wave and pop/rock music genre from the United Kingdom (UK) during the same time. Their hit song, “Devuelveme a Mi Chica,” was a motivated-driven song after a true story of the lead singer David Summer and his former girlfriend that he dated during that time. He had heard that when he left her for someone else. And the song and his lyrics were made, in a short amount of time. And their popularity grew exponentially when they started to tour in Latin America in 1987. That song, related to many, as a personal story and how to cope with it.
